The Morning X was founded in 1994 with a 10-year run on 99X. In Jan 2023, The Morning X returned with original cast members Barnes and Leslie, shortly after The Original 99X returned in December of 2022. Jimmy Baron occasionally joins the show in a recurring role and Crash Clark has returned as of Feb 2025 with full-time traffic reports. Steve Barnes, or simply “Barnes” as everyone has called him for years, is the host of The Morning X weekdays 6-10 am on 99X and on-demand worldwide at 99X.com. Barnes co-created The Morning X in 1994 with Leslie Fram and Jimmy Baron, and the show went on to win national awards during its 10-year initial run. The Morning X won Billboard Magazine and Radio & Records’ “National Major Market Morning Show Award” and “Best Morning Show” in Atlanta Magazine. Barnes has been named “Best Radio Voice” and “Favorite Radio DJ” for multiple years in Creative Loafing.
Leslie Fram
Coming off her 13 year role as Senior Vice President of Music and Talent at CMT in Nashville, Leslie has assembled a team of strategically aligned and select music business veterans for the purpose of offering advisory services to music-related entities. Leslie has a career spanning several decades in Rock and Alternative Radio. Referred to as the “First Lady of Modern Rock” Leslie is highly respected for both her hit intuition and hard-driving passion for music.
Crash Clark
With a dynamic career spanning over three decades, Christopher “Crash” Clark has become a staple in Atlanta’s radio and television landscape. He began his journey in the late 1980s, quickly establishing himself as a vibrant and engaging presence on the airwaves.
